“Height Detective” is an ongoing art and research project with the aim to transform photographs into 3D scenes of real-world scale. The main purpose is to find out the true dimensions of people whose height has been of particular interest and/or controversy, such as circus giants. The method I am using is involving photogrammetry and 3D modeling and is described here.
A lot of time-consuming research is needed in order to get knowledge about locations and objects in the photographs used for modeling. Therefore, everyone is invited to participate in this project by searching for such information on this page. There is also a page dedicated to requests where anyone can request a special photo to be transformed into a 3D scene.
Height Detective 
Look at the picture of me standing on the stairs. Infer the size of the feet of the person standing in front. Each step is 20cm. The short man is only about 1 meter tall. The door next to Väinö Myllyrinne is smaller than average. His height can never be 252cm.
