Saw Win Oo

The text and images presented in this post was originally posted in this thread on August 23, 2013

While looking at the latest photos of Saw Win Oo (from his visit at Yangon International Airport last week ), I couldnt help but notice the black and white tiles on the floor that was present in every picture. As I looked through other photos of Yangon Airport on the internet it became clear, that identical (or at least very similar) tiles seem to cover the floor in a great deal of the Airport.

I somehow thought that, if I just could find a photo of the floor with an item of known dimensions placed upon it, I would have enough information to find out the true height of Saw Win Oo with use of 3D tools. After looking through hundreds of photos I finally stumbled upon this photo of a group of Self-service Check-in Kiosks, installed at the Yangon Airport in June this year.

The website who posted the picture mentioned the name of the manufactor, “SITA” which made it a simple job to find out the product sheet of the actual model, “SITA S3 Kiosk” along with blueprints and technical specs.

Height: 131 cm (51.5 inches)
Width: 49 cm (19.3 inches)
Depth: 31.7 cm (12.5 inches)

Fom the blueprints I made a 3D model of the Kiosk aswell as the tiles (the red outline is just for clarity, look at the next picture)

SITA AND FLOOR

Just as I thought, the tiles beneath the kiosk, lined up perfectly with the tiles that Win Zaw Oo is standing on.
In the following picture I have “moved” the SITA kiosk and the tiles and placed them in the room where Win Zaw Oo was photographed.Kiosk and Floor Matched    Since we now have an object of verified height in this photo, it can be used as a reference object to measure other things in the photo aswell. Virtual Measure sticks are a great tool for this job! Here is one I´ve made myself.

close upTime to measure Win Saw Oo!! (in his not fully straight up-walking position).(I actually made a 3D model of Win Saw Oo to get his positioning right before measuring him, but here only the outlines is showed.

FINAL FRONT lines
FINAL BACK linesAccording to this work, Win saw Oo is standing (In this picture, with relatively bad posture) 216cm ( 7 ‘ 1”) in his sandals and about 215 cm ( 7’ 0 1/2″ )barefoot).

We can also take the time to measure Dr Myat Thu Min who (according to this work) turns out to be 171 cm ( 5′ 7 1/4″) in his shoes in this picture (while walking). This can be useful information to have in the future as new photos of them both together might turn up. It is important to remember that Win Saw Oo is probably  a litte bit taller twhen standing fully straight.
